He's been excavating.

He can spend hours under the camper-house steps, digging out and moving gravel. And this thing is tiny. It holds maybe a tablespoon of dirt! I'd be frustrated in 3 seconds and going out the door to rent a real live big one. But not the boy. He tells stories to himself and every now and then yells at the squirrels to stop being sassy. Wonder where he heard that phrase before???
He dug a hole that was getting deep, way under the step and beside one of the cement pads, that you could see the side and underneath it!! And because he dumps the gravel around the yard, there's nothing to fill the hole back up. I am waiting for the cranky owner to walk by one day and see it! And then rudely comment on it. Its OK, trusty baseball bat is still here.
Muwaaaaahahahahahahahahaha! (Loud evil cackle).
Anyways. I took a picture of the loader, so he pleaded with me to take a picture of the backhoe.

Ya, he's looking a little scruffy. But he's a boy. Boys thrive in dirt! See the second hole he has started scraping out of the packed gravel and dirt, behind the loader? He's a worker already.
You should have seen the coronary he had when a large backhoe on a flat bed rolled past to the building site behind us ;)
